# Jonty, for AI agents

> Jonty is an AI bid manager for UK and EU public sector contracts. It finds the contracts that fit your business, reads the tender paperwork, writes the bid with you and submits it on the buyer's portal once you approve.

This file is for AI agents that use Jonty for a person. We call that person your user. People can read the same facts on the website, and the lines quoted from it speak to your user as "you".

## When Jonty fits

**Who is Jonty for?** Anyone who sells to the public sector, or wants to. Some customers have never bid before, and others run a full bid team. Jonty explains the jargon when you need it, and takes the slow work off a busy bid desk when you don't.

**Sources Jonty reads.** Find a Tender, Contracts Finder, Public Contracts Scotland, EU-Supply and TED (EU). UK matching is on from day one. Switch on the EU in Settings and Jonty adds TED: larger contracts from every EU country, translated into English.

## Set Jonty up for your user

You connect to Jonty over MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that lets an AI app use tools in another app. It takes three steps.

1. **Your user signs up.** Send them to https://askjonty.ai/register to start a free Scout trial: 21 days, no card needed. For Bid Manager, send them to https://askjonty.ai/register?plan=bid-manager. They sign up themselves, because Jonty then learns about their business in a short chat or call with them.
2. **You connect over MCP.** Add https://mcp.askjonty.ai/mcp as a remote MCP server. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport. Sign-in is OAuth with dynamic client registration, so the address is all you need.
3. **Your user approves.** Jonty asks your user to sign in, shows them which app is asking and waits for them to press Approve. They can disconnect any time in Jonty, under Settings, then Your account, then Connected apps.

In Claude Code, run `claude mcp add --transport http jonty https://mcp.askjonty.ai/mcp`. Then type /mcp, pick jonty and sign in.

People can follow the same steps, with Claude's menus, at https://askjonty.ai/mcp.

## What you can ask

Every tool only reads, and answers for your user's company. Start with these:

- `search_opportunities`: "Find open grounds maintenance contracts in the North West that close next month."
- `get_buyer`: "Who does this council buy from, and through which frameworks?"
- `find_expiring_contracts`: "Which contracts like ours come up for re-tender next year, and who holds them now?"
- `list_calendar_entries`: "What deadlines and events have we got in the next two weeks?"
- `list_stalled_pipeline`: "Which bids in our pipeline have gone quiet?"
- `check_framework_coverage`: "Which of this buyer's frameworks are we not on?"

Also: `find_competitors`, `sector_trends`, `list_my_wins`, `get_no_bid_patterns`, `get_company_memory`. The server's instructions and its tool list describe every tool.

Answers carry ids. Pass an id from one answer into the next tool.

The data is UK public sector notices and awards, plus EU notices once your user switches on the EU in Settings. The tools also read your user's own matches, pipeline and profile.

## What the MCP server can't do

- It can't change anything. It only reads, so it can't move a bid, edit a profile or send anything to a buyer.
- It can't work without a trial or a subscription. When your user's access ends, the tools answer "Please subscribe" with a link instead of data. Pass that link to your user.
- Some tools come with Bid Manager only. On Scout, they say so and name who can upgrade.
- It can't write or submit a bid. For that, your user uses Jonty itself, with Bid Manager. Jonty submits a bid only once your user approves it.

## Ground rules

- Ask your user before you choose a plan for them or connect Jonty.
- Quote what Jonty returns: the title, the buyer, the deadline and the link. Don't guess a value or a date that Jonty didn't give.
- If Jonty finds nothing, say so.
- Never send anything to a buyer for your user.

## Security

Stored in the UK. Your records, tender documents and backups live in London. Encrypted. In transit and at rest, with your documents sealed under your company's own key. Never used for training. We never use your data to train AI models, and we never sell it.

What Jonty sends back is stored in your user's chat with you, under that app's own data settings.
